Gadget Girl
Last night, on my way to meet Joe for several drinks at the Tin Hat, BFE called me on my cell phone. I hit pause on my iPod, put in my earbug and answered my Treo. Later in the evening, I took some pictures of my drunk friends, and they took some of me, unfortunately, that I planned to email to myself so I could add them to iPhoto on my new iBook.
This morning, I woke up and it hit me: I’ve become gadget girl. I will be the first to admit that I’m a little bit geeky, and tend to like other geeks, but it’s gotten a bit ridiculous. When did I become this person? The iPod-toting, earbug-wearing, taking-pictures-with-my-phone BLOGGER, for crying out loud, who occupies my apartment and wears my clothes and still has problems with boys?
I used to pride myself on the fact that I was the kind of person who wasn’t embarrassed to stand in line to see Return of the King, because at least I wasn’t in costume. And it’s OK to know stuff about html, because I still can’t program my way out of a cardboard box. But sometime in the transition from summer to fall, I crossed the line and I’m a full-blown GEEK now.
The worst part: I’m kinda OK with it.

It’s in your genes, Baby. Be proud. Your daddy packed a sliderule. Sing along with me. “We are fam-i-lee.”
