Bullcrap
As I was driving home after work yesterday, I heard news stories about Hugo Chavez calling Bush the devil. As much as I dislike our president (and it’s a lot, in case you didn’t know), I felt a little defensive. Chavez is a few marbles short and I’m not OK with him talking shit about any American, even if it is one we have a mutual distaste for. That said, Chavez is, after all, a few marbles short. So what the fuck do we care what he says?
Today, two Democrats took Chavez to task for talking shit about the Commander in Chief. As I started to read this article, I got all excited. Finally, something we can all agree on. Then, as I read a little more, I slipped back into paranoia, wondering if Chavez is a Republican pawn, created to spark unity amongst our leaders.
But then I read this statement from New York Rep. Charles Rangel:
“Don’t come to the United States and think, because we have problems with our president, that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our chief of state.”
Suddenly I’m reminded of that old Saturday Night Live skit about the waitress who gets really pissed off at her very rude table of diners, but all she can muster is “This is bullcrap! It’s…it’s…it’s…crap…from a bull!”
I mean, really. Someone hold Rangel back. “We get offended when you say offensive things, Chavez.” Snap! Take that!
Can we get someone a little more articulate to fling zingers at the crazy guy? Eh?
