I have this pet peeve about Oregon news. It’s not the bad haircuts, ugly suits, or hokey weather guys. Though they bug me somewhat too.

No, what bugs me about Oregon news is that it’s only considered “news” if it’s about Oregon. For example, that helicopter crash in Northern California that killed several firefighters. The day it happened, I heard it mentioned briefly on OPB. The next day, we found out those killed were from Oregon and all of a sudden it’s breaking news, the top story, and all anyone can talk about. It makes me crazy.

But once in a while, there is a story like this that makes me just love Oregon news. I mean, where else would this even be a story?
