Most of the time, I love living on the West Coast. I like being surrounded by mostly liberal citizens. I like the clean air and open spaces. I like all the other cliches that come along with it.

Then, there are times, like tonight, when I don’t like it as much. I’m sitting here watching the Emmys, strolling the net, looking for interesting things to read during the boring parts, like when the girl from Veronica Mars sings or when they present awards for mini-series. I decided to go to CNN.com to see what’s up with the Hurricane aftermath or FEMA’s recent woes. Here’s what I found instead: a front page that told me which shows won best comedy and best drama Emmys.

I know it’s my own damn fault. I should have known better than to go look for news headlines right now. But, shit, why can’t they just show the Emmys live here?
