Right after this, I’m going jogging!
Remember that potentially good financial news I talked about a couple of weeks ago? Well, it became a reality and the first money I spent (other than three or four celebratory Whiskey Sours) was this overdue investment: an iPod. I’ve wanted one for so long, particularly when I see people at the gym, sweating to their own music rather than the Musak or bad, commercial radio that’s piped in.
I got it home yesterday and took the packaging apart, put all the pieces together, admired BFE’s advice to buy the wireless thing that will let me play Mr. iPod in the car, and then realized I have no way of loading music onto it at home. It turns out you need at least Windows 2000 to download iTunes to a PC. Since I have Windows 98 (I know! Can you believe it?) at home, my only hope is the iTunes I have on my eMac at work. I had a few moments last night where I seriously considered buying a new iBook online with an Apple Loan just so I could get this process started. But then I’d remind myself that even if I ordered it right then, the SOONEST it would be here would be next week.
So here I am at work, on a Sunday, loading a few more CDs onto iTunes so I can fill my new favorite toy with music I can jog to. As refreshing as it is to sit at my desk in grubby pants, a stained t-shirt, no makeup, and sleep in my eyes, I can’t believe I’m this desperate. Well, I can, it’s just embarrassing to admit it in such a concrete way.
