I went to the gym this morning and was so terribly pleased to see that the only person who had awoken earlier than me was the cute boy I sometimes have the good fortune of sweating simultaneously with. (He’s not the original cute gym boy, whom Miss Glamm and I named, appropriately, Gym. No, Gym doesn’t come to my gym anymore. I think he joined the fancier one they just opened down the hill. This new guy isn’t AS cute, but he’s still pretty hot.) As I was huffing and puffing my way through a mostly-upper body workout, I kept a lookout for cute boy. It makes the downtime between reps so much more interesting if there is someone pretty to look at. I was wondering, as I was peering at him through the flurry of free-weight lifters, how, if I chose to do so, would I approach him. Is it kosher to strike up conversation with someone at the gym?<\/p>\n
Later, as we were both doing our abs and cool-down in the stretch room, I decided it was probably best to leave gym guy at the gym and not consider pursuing him. I mean, if it went badly, if it went at all, I’d still have to see him at the gym. Actually, I’d have to go to the gym even MORE if it went badly, since that’s how I cope with most stress.<\/p>\n
Just as I was feeling all secure and confident in this decision, I got to work and found this article <\/a>in the PI. I think most of you know that I have no problem “hooking up” in Seattle. If I see a cute boy in a bar and think I might want to kiss him, chances are pretty good I can make that happen. Will I ever get a phone call or a second date? Probably not. <\/p>\n Now I’m wondering if there is a correlation between my inability to talk to potentially decent guys at places like the gym, my knack for picking up not-so-decent guys in bars who don’t call (if they even got my digits in the first place), and the apparent deluge of responses this article got from singletons in Seattle. Not that I totally trust anything a men’s aerosol fragrance company says anyway, but it’s still pretty funny.<\/p>\n
