The new Interpol CD came out today and, because he’s the best husband ever, GTB downloaded it before we left for work. We’re carpooling these days and traffic sucked this morning, so we got to listen to the album in its entirety on the way to work–a silver lining to the hour-long commute cloud.<\/p>\n
At about track 5, I said to GTB “You know, it’s a sad state for the music industry when my favorite band in the whole world comes out with a CD and the fact that it doesn’t suck brings tears to my eyes.” GTB replied, “Yeah, it sounds pretty much just like their first two CDs.” I said, “Which is all that I ask of them.”<\/p>\n
A few songs later, GTB said, “Yeah, not only does this CD not suck, but Carlos D. no longer looks like a Nazi storm trooper. He’s sporting a Deadwood look now.” I guess that’s a good thing.<\/p>\n
Paul lets himself actually sing a few times. I don’t know song titles yet, but there is this one where he says something like, “I select you…” and it’s a little shocking how great he sounds. I mean, I’ve always loved his voice, but when someone who has long wallowed comfortably in the bowels of his own octive range reaches like that…well, let’s just say I got tingly. Paul…sigh.<\/p>\n
So there’s my glowing endorsement for the new Interpol CD. It would be impossible for me to overstate how much I love this band so I have a hard time not oozing appreciations all over this blog. I’d end by telling you to go out and buy it but, according to something GTB heard on Live Earth, it’s more eco-friendly to pay to download it. Saves fossil fuels and keeps all that plastic out of our landfills or something.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
