I’m sitting here watching Rockstar: Supernova, the elimination episode. I’m desperately hoping Patrice doesn’t get kicked off, both because Barker is in love with her and because I dislike Jill so much. In the meantime, Josh is performing and though I’m mostly nonplussed by his chops, I’m still moved by his performance. Despite his crappy performances thus far, including two flubbed efforts at Sublime and Stone Temple Pilots’ songs, which, we all must admit, are hard to make worse, his rendition of Bad Company’s “Shooting Star” moved me.<\/p>\n
But not for the reason you are thinking.<\/p>\n
I’m not suddenly struck by Josh’s vocal skills, or his defiant stance behind his guitar despite Tommy Lee’s insistance that his survival depends on getting out from behind his instrument. No, tonight, as he sang, I walked to the kitchen to put my milkshake glass in the dishwasher and had sweet (and probably barfy to the rest of you) thoughts about GTB singing to our baby. <\/p>\n
We don’t even have the baby yet. And just tonight, before he went to hang out with one of his friends, GTB and I had a conversation about whether or not we’d be able to afford a baby before we are both 40 years old. But in that moment, I had vivid visions of him playing his guitar as I put the kid to bed, or him waking the little thing up while strumming his guitar.<\/p>\n
And instantly, I love Rockstar: Supernova even more.<\/p>\n
